Der Pianist - 20th Anniversary Edition [Blu-ray]

The Polish pianist Wladyslaw Szpilman (Adrien Brody) is imprisoned in the Warsaw ghetto by the Nazis in 1940 along with thousands upon thousands of other Jews. The Jewish inhabitants have no prospect of escaping deportation to the inhumane concentration camps. Already on the way to the wagons and thus doomed to die, a Jewish policeman helps Wladyslaw to escape. A time of loneliness, of hiding, of flight begins for him - until shortly before the end of the war in the bombed-out city he is discovered by the German officer Wilm Hosenfeld (Thomas Kretschmann) in the rubble of a house.
